Washington, D.C. Research Tour 2023

Thank you for registering for our 2023 Washington, D.C. Research Tour, which is taking place Sunday, March 26 - Sunday, April 2, 2023! 

Discover the wealth of family history resources in our nation’s capital. Delve into military records, immigration files, newspapers, compiled family papers, and more at the National Archives and Records Administration, the Library of Congress, and the Daughters of the American Revolution Library.

Program includes:

  • Seven-night hotel stay at the State Plaza Hotel

  • Tour and orientation to collections at the DAR Library, NARA, and Library of Congress

  • Lectures presented by American Ancestors experts

  • Three, thirty-minute consultations with expert genealogists

  • Group meals (opening and closing dinner)

  • Pre-program preparatory webinar and resources

NARA Orientation

This online orientation takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. You will receive a certificate once it's complete, which you will need to present when we arrive to NARA. You can either print the certificate or a take a picture of it with your phone. Complete the online orientation here:

NARA Registration

This is a quick form, and the registration will automatically go into NARA's system. There is no need to print it or take a picture to show that you've completed it.

NARA Research Appointment Sign Up Form

We have appointment slots reserved for our group, but NARA needs the names of each person visiting each day, and this must be provided a day in advance. Our entire group will be visiting on Monday, March 27, but you will need to sign up to visit Tuesday, March 28-Saturday, April 1. Please sign up no later than 2:00 p.m. the day before your chosen day(s). You can submit this form multiple times. LOC Reader Registration

The Library of Congress requires Reader Registration. We will receive Reader Registration cards when we arrive, but the process will be quicker if you pre-register for your card online here: https://reader-registration.loc.gov/readerreg/remote/
