  • 1-hour virtual consultation via Zoom, scheduled prior to the day trip (April 29 - May 10) 
  • Tour and Orientation by Phillips Library staff
  • Lunch
  • Research assistance by American Ancestors experts while at the library 

Note: registration does not include transportation to or from the repository.

Important Reminders:

  • Materials must be requested through the Phillips Library Catalog by Thursday, May 12 at noon. Instructions and links below.
  • MASK MANDATE: The Phillips Library's has a mandated mask policy. We will have extra masks on hand, but please plan accordingly.

Phillips Library of the Peabody Essex Museum is a rare books and special collections library located in Rowley, Massachusetts. The collections of the Phillips Library consist of manuscripts, books, maps, photographs and more with particular strength in Essex County and Maritime History.

*Note: You must create a Philcat account and submit requests for materials 24 hours in advance of the event. Phillips Library staff will not retrieve materials on demand. See "Preparing for Research" for more information.

  • Create an account in Philcat, the Phillips Library Catalog, here and submit requests for materials 24 hours in advance of the event. See full instructions here.
  • Email research@pem.org if you need help with your Philcat account or finding materials. Mention the May American Ancestors research group in your email.
  • Read the Library Rules here.

Consultations

  • Each participant receives one 1-hour virtual consultation held prior to the program date via Zoom
  • Dates and times for your consultation slot will be sent to you via email in advance
  • Consultation time should be focused on what is submitted in your participant form
  • Consultations will be recorded and made available to you afterwards so you can review on your own time
  • Our experts will not do research for you, but they will offer helpful tips, guidance, and resources to consider as you continue your research
