As a member of the Learning & Interpretation team, Valerie contributes to several areas. She proofreads American Ancestors magazine and conducts and compiles research for Newbury Street Press. She has written the “Spotlight” column for The Weekly Genealogist enewsletter for more than twenty years and replies to the emailed correspondence from its readers. She has written three articles for the magazine. 

Valerie joined the American Ancestors in 1991, becoming a staff member in 2002. She served as a visitor service representative on the reception desk in the evenings for nearly two decades. She holds an EdM from Boston University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and was previously employed at Simmons University.
