Kaela graduated from Denison University with a double BA in History and Black Studies. During her time at Denison, Kaela worked as Front of House Manager for the Eisner Center of Performing Arts and Event Programming Chair for the University Programming Council. She completed her studies with a senior research project titled "African American Expatriates' Cultural Gathering Spaces in Postwar Paris, France: Jazz Clubs and Restaurants in the mid-1940s to 1950s." She has a broad interest in all aspects of history, with a particular interest in the cultural and social histories pertaining to racial, gender, and sexual identity.
