John Farland being sworn deposeth and saith that Henry Sackett cook on board the schooner Leonidas a American vessel did on the twenty first day of January 1831 on the high seas raise an axe against this deponent and this deponent for also saith that the mate seized the axe and took it from the said Henry Sackett and that the said Henry Sackett threatened this deponent when he was acting on his lawful capacity as Captain of the said schooner—and this deponent farther saith that one of seamen of the said schooner named John collared this deponent—and the said Henry Sackett was the leader of the mutineers- and this deponent further saith that John Murphy was the mate of the said schooner, and that these were fine men before mast, and this deponent further saith that the man called John summoned all the men from the forecastle to his assistance in using violence upon this deponent and this deponent further saith that he had great difficulty in getting the men to perform their duty—and this deponent further saith that he found it absolutely necessary to tie the said Henry Sackett to prevent his further violence—and so kept him tied till he promised to go on quietly with his duty
