Heritage Tour

May 14 - 19, 2025
Margaret M. Talcott

Join Margaret Talcott, Director of Literary Programs & Partnerships, at the star-studded Santa Fe International Literary Festival to hear what inspires some of today's most important writers. This three-day Festival will bring together world-renowned authors, thinkers, and passionate readers for a stimulating roster of events:

  • On Stage: Best-selling, prize-winnings authors - including Michael Pollan, Heather Cox Richardson, Amy Tan, Michael Cunningham, and Terry Tempest Williams - headline the Festival, discuss their work with readings and book signings that set the stage for further inspired conversations.
  • Walk & Talk: Join events exclusive to American Ancestors members on walks with authors and guides that will stretch our legs and minds during morning meditations, walking tours, and other literary-themed activities. We will be sure to include opportunities to meet Native American authors as well!
  • In Conversation and Author Talks: Attend talks between authors and other notable figures who will engage in one-on-one conversations and thought-provoking discussions.
  • The tour includes excursions to Willa Cather literary sites and to the D. H. Lawrence Ranch and Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos, New Mexico.

Our base for five nights will be the Inn & Spa at Loretto, located a block from the historic Plaza next to the Loretto Chapel, in a building designed after the Taos Pueblo, with spacious rooms decorated in contemporary style.
