Gates Building Dedication & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Thursday, April 24, 2025

10:00 a.m.

97-101 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116

We are thrilled to announce a historic moment for American Ancestors! After 180 years, part of our headquarters will be named in honor of one of the most influential family historians in American history: Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

The naming of our buildings and the new Family Heritage Experience are the centerpieces of our ongoing Cornerstone Campaign—a transformative initiative that inspires individuals and families to explore their personal histories while expanding both in-person and virtual learning opportunities.

Cornerstone Campaign

Our $40 million capital campaign has recently surpassed $35 million, and we are striving to complete our goal in 2025. Your support will ensure that expert family history resources and services, enriched by historical and cultural context, continue for generations to come.

If you would like to honor Dr. Gates with a gift, he will be personally notified.
